Dear Darla Didn't Make it,
Saturday really took
off like a rocket. We started with the minutes and treasury report to
kick off the day. After we got everyone caught up on the working of the
group we started on new business.
The
triple Irish chain raffle quilt is being quilted in the conference room
upstairs in the art center. We have 190 hrs. involved in the quilting
before the Sat. session. WOW The raffle quilt will hang in the Tennessee
Williams visitor center during the pilgrimage and volunteers will be
needed to sell tickets on Sat. & Sun. to the visitors both weekends.
Lauren has the raffle tickets and is keeping a schedule of times that we
need to fill in both selling tickets and quilting in costume at the
different homes. Sat. March 29th the pilgrimage will host an artisan
day on the lawn of the visitor's center where we were asked to
participate in costume. We will have a quilt in the frame and will have
others doing different types of needlework also. If you can help in any
way please give Lauren a call or e-mail her to let her know when and
where you would like to help.
We contacted
Gloria Reeves of MQA to let her know that we would like to host the Fall
gathering in 09 of the Mississippi Quilters Association. We will need
to have a lot of help to pull this off and it should be a lot of fun
too. Before this meeting we will order a set of t-shirts all alike but
we are planning to send off another order of mixed colors t-shirts and
possibly tote-bags too.
The mystery
quilt has been postponed until after the pilgrimage to give everyone a
chance to participate. There is a web site of quiltacholics.com that is
having one if anyone wants to check it out before we get ours started.
The committee
for next years challenge quilt have been appointed and they are Julia as
chairperson with LaWanna and C.C.as assistants. They will choose the
theme, fabrics, size of blocks, layout, judges, and the day the block is
due for judging. The hope is to have the quilt complete before
Christmas this year.
The blocks we
made of hearts were displayed and they were fabulous.

There were 19 I
believe and Stephanie won them. Congratulations. Next months block is
to be a 12 1/2" block made with greens (no teals) and a neutral or cream
background. That's all the restriction you have.
Now that brings
us to the best part of our meetings and that's Show and Tell.
Sharon began with
a quilt top for her nephew of the college which he is a big fan.
Her sister made
the top and sent it to her to finish and quilt.
Terri brought a
t-shirt quilt she made for a coach she knows. Great
job!
We dismissed and had
a lunch of chili, Mexican cornbread, and girl scout cookies provided by
Mary Ann and LaWanna. After lunch we went upstairs and quilted on the
raffle quilt.
Well that's
about it for this month and I hope you can make the meeting the next
time. If you aren't there you are missed. When all else fails go fold
some fabric and dream of the countless combinations that are only
limited by time. And if you find a bucket of round-to-it's send me a
handful.
