Dear
Nancy Nine-Patch,
The summer has been hot with all sort of
ideas and plans. The members have really been working hard on their BOM
quilts and are coming along with the results. The members voted to
prorate the dues to nine dollars for membership for the rest of the year
with the current officers to remain in office until the December meeting
with the election in November.
Lauren was great in organizing the
pilgrimage and has been asked to do it again next year.
The minutes were read and approved along
with the treasurers report. Along with other news our challenge blocks
are to be handed in anonymously with only your number placed on the blocks
backside. They will need to be handed in at the July meeting so that they
can be displayed and judged.
June 7th will be a basic workshop on
rotary cutting and quarter inch piecing and other basic info. The guild
is looking for a cabinet for to put our supplies in and leave at the RAC.
A motion was made to buy the sewing machines Wal-Mart has discounted if we
can't get them donated to the guild.
The RAC will hold a quilt show for the
members of the guild during the month of July and August in 2009 with 75%
of the items displayed by any member must be for sale.
The winner of the pastel lottery blocks
was LaWanna Shultz.
Show and Tell was fun with Sharon showing a
quilt that she quilted and Christy had assembled from the donated
material.
The BOM blocks were displayed and are
coming along quite nicely. Watanna showed a Stack-n-Whack she made all
from the same fabric as the outside border. Judy showed her quilt that was made of the
lottery blocks she won on line
CC brought the Lone
Sharon showed her geisha wall hanging. Julia showed a utility quilt her sightless
daughter-in-law had made. Annette showed two projects made with
fabric dyeing process. Un fortunately the rest of the meeting is missing due to an appointment I had but I'm sure it was spectacular. Well till next time spend less time cooking and more time stitching.
Yours truly,
Katie O'Possum
