Meeting of Possum Town Quilters November 17, 2007:

Dear Patty Procrastinator,

     I know we are all thankful for a little fall weather to help get us in the quilting spirit.  The MQA has asked us to think about hosting the spring of 2009 meeting in Columbus so ladies I believe our guild has started to be noticed by our peers and they like what they see.

Julia was finally presented her ribbon for people's choice in the challenge contest.  Congrats to you Julia.

Julia Graber won viewers choice in the Butterflies &Blooms block Challenge

Also Congratulations are in order for Julia on her quilt being selected as a finalist in the MAQS contest, New Quilts From An Old Favorite, Sawtooth Stars, 2008.

Oh by the way, if you have any of the blocks to go in the quilt which will be given to the art center  they need to be brought to the next meeting so that they can be put in a quilt top and quilted as soon as possible.

Congratulations to Judy Stokes:

Fayette County
(Alabama) Fair in October.

The pink quilt "Megan's
Pink Star" won a
red ribbon.

The Earnhardt quilt
"Matthew's Hartdale Jr Quilt"

won a blue ribbon in
it's category

The t-shirts are here and we have set a even dollar number for the shirts so if you haven't picked yours up they are at Sharon's house so let her know how we can get yours to you.

***A Big Thank you and appreciation to Mary Ann

for the wonderful graphic for our logo!

A great artistic gift to our guild.

The Christmas tree at the library will be decorated Saturday after Thanksgiving about 10:30 so anyone interested is asked to show up.

Sharon gave us a leaflet on improving the documentation of the history of our quilts.

If you have any ideas about how we can improve our guild by all means let them be known because we all have things we would like to learn and all of us have things that we can share.   Even if it's what not to do, boy do I have plenty of those.

The by-laws are to be posted of our web and will be voted on at the Jan. meeting.

The block lottery winners this month were Sue Skipper, Julia Graber, Sharon Hedrick, and Brenda Crownover.  We still have about six members that haven't won so there will be at least one more lottery in Jan.

Pictures from November Meeting Show and Tell:

And now for the best part: show and tell had a demo of the different looks of a mystery quilt that Judy and Sharon's sister made from the same instructions.

Terry brought the Churn Dash top that she won blocks for and showed us how she made negative blocks and set them on point to really make an impressive top.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Christy had made a quilt for her sisters new baby only to find out that she's having twins.  So Christy does that mean another quilt ?
Christine brought her first quilt that she made at the class she took from Judy and she made a second one in the same style in Christmas prints.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Annette brought a quilt made in the Jacobs ladder style that she machine quilted in strip which she is planning to give to her daughter.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Watana showed us one of the quilts she made from music print for one of her grandsons and she had another quilt made in a friendship star scrappy style that was inspired  by a Bonnie Hunt class which will go to a grandson that hunts.
Well girls I hope you did all you were supposed to to get ready for the holidays I know I've still got things to do so I guess I'd better sign off  and turn on the sewing machine.
stay in stitches,
Katie O'Possum
We were all reminded that we will not be having a regular meeting next month. We will be having a Christmas Party at Judy Stokes house on the 15th at 11:00 a.m.. Please RSVP and let Judy know if you are going to be able to attend, by the 12th if at all possible. Bring your 12-1/2" unfinished block done in Christmas type fabrics for the drawing, one person will go home with a good start on a Christmas Quilt! Also, we are going to play "Greedy Santa" so if you would like to participate bring a gift valued at around $10 and join in! Remember to bring your favorite finger food, snack or Christmas party dish and join us for some Christmas Quilting Fun!
Thank you to Judy Stokes for taking the pictures!
